I took my first trip out to the West Coast this week...San Francisco (Napa) to be exact. It was really beautiful there...weather was great. I tasted some Napa Valley wine which lived up to it's reputation. (I'm not a connoisseur but it tasted fine to me). I also got to see the Golden Gate bridge (from the Bay bridge) and saw Alcatraz from a distance. A couple of things of note:
1. Apparently San Francisco has a thriving gay population. Am I the only one who didn't know this? I'm usually pretty aware of culture issues, but this one really blindsided me.
2. The traffic is worse than Atlanta. It took me 2 and a half hours to drive 60 miles from Napa to San Fran.
3. Downtown is very cool...I went to a party at a joint called the Thirsty Bear and it was really cool. Lots of hipsters.
4. Tax software conferences are boring even in California.
So that's the trip report. I don't think I'm going to be travelling for a while so this will probably be my last travelogue for a bit. I'm sure I'll find other things to write about though.
